Rangers appeal against the SFA 12 month signing embargo was tonight thrown out by the SFA tribunal, leaving Rangers with a very difficult 12 months ahead.

The appeal hearing tonight at Hampden Park was heard by Lord Carloway, Craig Graham and Allan Cowan and was contested by Richard Keen QC on behalf of Rangers.

Further to the announcement the following statement was released which outlined the decisions of the appeals panel:

Here are my player ratings from Rangers 0-0 draw at home against Motherwell on the 5th of May 2012 in what was the last game at Ibrox this season.

McGregor (6)
Didn't have much to do at all. Had to make some standard saves form long range. There was one moment in the first half where he forced a Motherwell player out wide in a one on one situation. Was quick to close players down when they were through on goal forcing them to either miss or try to make a pass.

Here are my player ratings from Rangers impressive 5-0 win at Ibrox over Dundee Utd on Wednesday the 2nd of May 2012.

McGregor (8)
Made an early save from a free kick low down to his right at 0-0. Made another very fine save from a shot that from 15 yards at 1-0. Then in the second half made another good save with his feet from close range. Commanded his area well. Made some catches from corners. Had a very good game.

Could do absolutely nothing about any of the goals. He did have one very good save in the second half from a long range effort going into the top corner that he diverted over the bar.

He had a stinker of a game. For the first goal he got sucked away from the back

When Stewart Regan swept into power at Hampden Park as the new Chief Executive of the SFA, I think we were all naively optimistic that perhaps his appointment would drag our governing body into the modern era and that the standards of procedure would be raised to an level close to being acceptable. Oh how wrong we were.
